  1. A temple is a centre of Jewish national 
  2. worship in Jerusalem in both ancient and 
  3. modern days. The Western or Wailing Wall is 
  4. the surviving part of the western wall of the 
  5. enclosure of Herod's Temple. Since the 
  6. destruction of the Temple AD 70, Jews have 
  7. gone there to pray and to mourn their 
  8. dispersion and the loss of their homeland.
